On October 3 2010 at 6PM I posted the very first entry to this blog. Out into nowhere, no idea if anyone was ever going to read it. I didn’t really want to start blogging, felt like it was a dirty thing and felt super self conscious about it. I thought it was just for housewives who wanted to chronicle the lives of their cats. A post-modern phenomenon for people who felt their everyday thoughts and behavior were worth writing about.
But I had so much to share! I was about to start working full-time and work towards my LA adventure and couldn’t imagine there weren’t others wondering and dreaming about the same things as I was. So here we are, one year later. And in one year, what has changed?
On October 1st 2010 my address was in the one million inhabitants counting capital of one of the smallest countries in the world. I had just gotten my BSc in Psychology and had barely started working at a peculiar gaming company. I had no TV credits and spent my days riding my bicycle through the rain and wind to said company followed by dinners with my lovely friends and making pizza with my wonderful boyfriend. Every once in a while when the sun came out I would play guitar with my little sister on a climber near the Ij lake.
October 1st 2011 I’m living in the second biggest city in the third biggest country in the world, garnered one awesome TV credit, take acting classes in Beverly Hills and a variety of creative classes at a college, and spend my days riding my bicycle in sunny LaLaLand (which comes with it’s own set of troubles. Note: LA is not as flat as the Netherlands). Not a day goes by that I don’t see something new, meet someone new, experience something new. It’s been hard never seeing a familiar, trusty face or place, but I’ve also never felt so alive, as cliched as that might be. I feel like I’m in full-on survival mode all the time, and it keeps me so sharp and present.
Also one year later, this blog has over 75 subscribers, a handful of lovely frequent commenters, and an ever rising number of visitors. Not to mention it brought me into contact with similar other bloggers, such as Lenka at http://lenkasactingjourney.blogspot.com/
So, as a way to celebrate my one year blogging anniversary I thought we’d simulate a little party here. I unfortunately can’t send cupcakes to everyone but you are more than welcome to send them to me 😉 No, let’s just simulate the awkward I-don’t-know-anyone-at-this-party-and-must-converse-with-random-strangers part! Answer me the following questions:
- Who are you?
- Where are you from?
- What does your breakfast look like?
- What’s your biggest triumph?
- What would you like to see more of on this blog?
- Who is your inspiration?
